Pyriform Fossa

I am a retired government officer. At the age of 75 years, I was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer of pyriform fossa in Apr 2015. It started with a progressive change in voice. When investigated we noted a mass of size of a small rubber ball. Biopsy suggested squamous carcinoma. This was sort of aggressive type of tumor and needed aggressive management which included chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation. But at my advanced age, I was not eligible for surgery. My oncologist advised me for chemotherapy and radiation. As per their advice, I completed radiation and chemotherapy. PET CT scan done was suggesting significant regression but still, there were chances of disease recurrence. Though the tumor was regressed due to the effect of chemotherapy and radiation I had pain and irritation in the throat, dryness of mouth, loss of appetite, weight loss of around 10 kg, intolerance to spicy food, etc. I also had a persisting dry cough.

I was inclined to Ayurvedic treatment so decided to take alternative treatment for relief in symptoms and prevention of recurrence. It showed radiation edema. Within the period of one month, I got 90% relief in the majority of symptoms. I was completely asymptomatic within a span of 5-6 months. I started putting on weight. I repeated laryngoscopy at an interval of 6 months. 

All findings were normal except radiation-induced swelling. I had regained my previous weight. My general condition had improved greatly and energy levels were very high.
