Dr.Arun Jamkar

Professor Dr.Arun Jamkar has done his Masters in Surgery followed by a Ph.D. in Surgical Oncology. He is a trained transplant surgeon from Freeman Hospital, UK and was the first surgeon in Pune to start Renal Transplant Surgery in public sector. He is a former Vice Chancellor of Maharashtra University of Health Sciences. He has been the Dean of B.J. Medical College. Dr Jamkar is a multifaceted person, a surgeon, an eminent educationist, a versatile administrator, a mentor par excellence & globally acknowledged innovator. He has performed thousands of major cancer surgeries. Due to his efforts and initiative in organ donation and transplantation attained wider acceptance across the various socio, economic and religious strata of the society. His unflinching commitment to serve the destitute brought affordable "Renal Transplant Surgery" to government hospitals. He has been a U.N.E.S.C.O. chair in Bioethics Haifa at M.U.H.S. He had proposed Incubation Center for Healthcare Innovations in collaboration with IIT Powai in Mumbai and helped to develop first indigenous MRI by Society for Microwave Electronics and Engineering Research. Dr. Jamkar established H1N1 isolation in I.C.U. at Sassoon General hospital creating respiratory and ventilator care management for critically ill. He was a representative of India for International digital Epidemiological Study on “Acute Pain in Abdomen” He is also involved in collaborative projects with Johns Hopkins University, USA. He is a fellow of esteemed Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER). He was involved in collaborative project between Maharashtra University of Health Sciences and University of Michigan. The Government of India has recently nominated, 


Dr. Kaul

Dr. Kaul graduated in Pharmacy from Gujarat University and went on to do his Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the University of Glasgow (U.K.). He worked as a Director of R&D BOOTS Pharmaceuticals Mumbai. He then joined and retired from NIPER as a founder Director. His research work spans over 4 decades centred on pre-clinical studies of new drugs, stability, bioequilence, formulations Q.A. and Q. C. He has more than 150 publications in peered review journals and 20 patents on his name. His main areas of interest are hypertension, diabetes, autonomic pharmacology clinical research and tropical medicines. Dr. Kaul is an advisor to Pharmaceutical industry and a visiting professor on several governing bodies and institutes. He is very active professionally and is a member of several scientific organisations. He was the Editor of I.J.P.S. and is presently on the advisory board of many Journals. He is a Fellow of the National Academy of sciences, Punjab Academy of Sciences and Indian Pharmaceutical Association. He has been awarded Eminent Pharmacist Award by the Indian Pharmaceutical association. A special award was conferred by the Indian Pharmacological Society to Dr. Kaul for outstanding contribution to the development of Pharmacology in India.


Dr.Mario Romero

Dr. Romero is an Associate Professor of Bioengineering at The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) and adjunct faculty in the Surgery department at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW), the UTA Research Institute (UTARI) and Partner Researcher at the University of Wollongon, Australia. He received his doctorate in Neuroscience from Tulane University and postdoctoral training from UTSW as Associate Member of the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation Research Consortium on Spinal Cord Injury.

He has served as Director of the Regenerative Neurobiology Research Division at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital and Assistant Professor of Neurology and Plastic Surgery at UTSW. He currently serves as Associate Editor of Frontiers in Neuroengineering and as Founder and Chief Scientific Officer for Nerve Solutions Inc, a company that commercializes the Biosynthetic Nerve Implant and the NeuroBlock devices developed in his laboratory. He is the recipient of the 2014 UTA College of Engineering Excellence in Research Award, the 2013 TechFortWorth Impact Award and "Ten Most Promising Life Science Company Award", and the 2013 Tech Titans Award in Technology Innovation.His research intrest are understanding the molecular basis of axon guidance and target recognition during development and regeneration, and to generate novel nerve repair strategies.


Specific research areas include: Spinal cord injury, peripheral nerve gap repair, and regenerative peripheral neurointerfaces. 


Dr.Padma Shastry

Dr. Padma Shastry has done her Ph.D. from Bombay University India and did her post-doctoral studies at University of Alberta in Edmonton  Canada.

She joined the Immunology department of CVTC KEM hospital at Parel Bombay. Then she worked as a Principal Scientist (ex-Scientist G) at National Centre for Cell Science (NCCS earlier known as N.F.A.T.C.C.).

Her research interests are in cancer biology and currently her projects are focused on understanding and studying drug resistance/ sensitivity in gliomas using different experimental models. She also has a keen interest in stem cell biology with focus on directing human bone marrow stem cells towards neuronal lineage and understanding the mechanisms involved. She has worked on projects related to malaria and fungal lectins as potential tools for anti-cancer activity. She is a recognized guide to S.Phule Pune University for Ph.D in Zoology and Biotechnology. She has actively participated in teaching programs of M.Sc (Biotech) Pune University for Ph.D course work and Refresher’s courses. She has functioned as Ph.D examiner for different universities. Dr. Shastry  has been a reviewer for international journals like  Carcinogenesis, Plos one, Mol carcinogenesis, Molecular cancer, Chemotherapy, Exp cell res and many more. She has more than 19 publications under her name.
